Connemara Peated & Tullamore Dew Irish Whiskey Reviews

Hi everyone,

Two more Irish whiskies now. A cheap blend first to warm up eh?
The Tullamore distillery was only built in 2014, so this is a blended Irish whiskey with an undisclosed origin (not that there’s many places it could have come from).

Tullamore Dew 40%
Colour: E150a
Body: Light
Nose: Vanilla, some fruit, flowery and herbal, bath bombs, rosemary, lavender, hints of soft biscuits, hints of nut.
Taste: Creamy, lots of vanilla, bit of spice, more cream. Getting creamy and smoother. Some maltiness into the finish.
Finish: Short length. Soft creamy spice.
A typical easy Irish one. Better than Bushmills and Jamesons by a long way though.
59/100

Connemara Peated 40%
Colour: E150a
Body: Light/Medium
Nose: Light peat smoke and classic Irish smoothness. Quite juicy- Mango and apricot. A farmy side- Cut grass and hay. A little putty? A floral note- Pollen, sunflowers and honey.
Taste: Smooth arrival, a little oily- Acrylic paint?, building smoke and wet hay, then fruit- Fruit pastilles, fruit gums, orange marmalade, mango and apricot. A plastic/putty note- Blu Tac.
Finish: Short/Medium length. Mango, wet hay and a little wet ash. A little burnt plastic or putty?
A peated single malt whiskey from Cooley distillery. A little weird in places but it works. Apparently, they use Welsh peat… No idea why.
65/100

Thanks for reading!
