Buffalo Trace Bourbon Review

Hi everyone,

Today I’ve got a basic Bourbon from Buffalo Trace, just their standard edition at 40%. This is a Bourbon I taste fairly regularly because we give it out on masterclasses I do at work.
When I first wrote notes it was a while ago, so I’ve just re-tasted it again and got something quite different to what I was expecting. This is from a bottle I opened yesterday, so it’s brand new too. My guess would be that it’s down to batch differences.

Buffalo Trace 40%
Colour: Bronze
Body: Medium
Nose: Nutty and spicy at first, almond, clove, marzipan, cherry, Amaretto, a strange synthetic rubber note I’ve never had with BT before is growing, a little bitter coffee, some brandy, mint and rye.
Taste: Caramel starts, some fruit with cherries, marzipan, almonds. A little synthetic rubber again. Mint, candle wax and vanilla too.
Finish: Short/Medium length. Oak, rye, clove and liquorice.
Tasted this before and it was ok (65), but this batch I’m re-tasting has a weird synthetic rubber thing I haven’t had before and it’s really ruining the nose.
58/100
65/100 (Previous Batch)
Final Sore: 62

Thanks for reading!
