Hi everyone,
I haven’t tried a load of Auchroisk because it’s a really obscure distillery pumping out whisky for blends behind the scenes. Also because it’s unpronounceable name makes it hard to ask for.
But the Diageo stand at Whisky Lounge York had this older one from a couple years back. Dave Worthington of TBWC said he could try one whisky and this was the one he had to try. So that convinced me.
Auchroisk 30 Special Releases 2012 54.7%
Colour: Gold
Body: Medium/Full
Nose: Old. Dry wood, complex spice, floral hints, a bit closed though.
Taste: Sweet start, orange, dry, complex development with hot sauna wood and complex spice, ginger and black pepper, cumin and coriander.
Finish: Long length. Some dried orange peel, more coriander, sauna wood.
Distilled 1982. Spicier with water: curry like. The nose may have needed water or time or both to open up, but I did give this time and didn’t get much in return. This is still available at around £250.
82/100
Thanks for reading!
