Remember back when I said I didn’t particularly enjoy the gummy bear style of some Irish whiskey. Well this is the other style, that I do enjoy and look for.
Unfortunately, these more natural tasting Irish whiskies don’t necessarily have the complexity or power to get to the higher scores yet.
West Cork Single Malt 10 46%
Colour: Gold
Body: Light/Medium
Nose: A nice natural one, natural tropical fruit, mango, lovely lychie, pineapple, interesting rubber.
Taste: Soft, some tropical fruit, but a little rubbery and lacking power, some spice and oak.
Finish: Medium length. Spicy oak continues with ginger. Tingling.
Yeah, a natural fruity style. Would like to see more of this kind of thing at cask strength and maybe a little older/single cask.
